Hi, my name is Jane Pakhomova, I am a second year Art History and Social Anthropology student and a part of the Culture Y team. As you might already know, next year’s festival will be all about spaces. In my opinion, spaces can be a powerful instrument of positioning people in a world full of social, political and cultural boundaries. Sometimes we don't notice how different spaces affect our identity and relationships with the others, while others allow us to be our true selves. I hope that the Culture Y 2018 Arts Show will provide all of us with the opportunity to reflect on these issues through contemporary works of art and make us think about how different confined spaces construct the wonderful open world we live in.
