Hi, my name is Alexis Gostelow and I am a co-founder of Culture Y! For me, Culture Y represents the desire to explore key issues within culture and society using art. As an art historian, I have always been interested in the ways that art has been able to commentate on how we live within and are influenced by culture. As an international student from the United States, I felt it was important to address the theme of how spaces affect us within a cultural context as we often don’t take the time to appreciate and understand how the diverse range of spaces we occupy affect us. With this year's theme, I hope to allow Culture Y to enter new ways of engaging with artist and audience on the meaning of culture.
